I just run ping in a command window like this: ping -n 20 http://www.google.com. Then. You might see teh first packet time be 2sec or more like mine, then the they will go down. While it's pinging you can connect to the robot. You have to connect to the robot before the pinging stops. You could increase the  "20" to a bigger number too.
