Is spykee pointless, or am i missing somthing?

Hi,

So, after setting it all up, creating passwords, trubleshooting for days It finaly works how it should.

Now, i got this mainly for the remote control features, because, you may agree, it does get a bit boring driving round rooms you are sitting in.

So, this is what i want i have a problem with. If i keep the robot on the charger, once fully charged, it turns itself on standby and i can no longer activate it from another location. If i turn the robot on and wait till im in another location, i only have 6 hours to do so as the battery runs out and it goes dead.

So i cant really use it from another country, unless my burgler is kind enough to turn it on when he breaks in.

So im really asking.....am I doing somthing wrong, or am i missing an important feature?

thanks,

neil

Hi,
I just tested your scenario by switching on the Spykee, then charging it until it was full and then trying a remote connection while it was still on the charging station. I can remotely connect to the robot even when it has been left on its base station with a full charge.
Cheers,
Peter

That is true, but after a few hours, or a day or so, it will go into standby.

I currently have a turned on robot on the charger, that i cant connect to. Il look into it a bit more though. Mabey mine is defective.

thanks,

one point to add though is, that if my laptop is allways connected to the robot then i can wake it up when ever i like. I just click on the console and it comes alive. But this means that i have to keep my computer turned on and connected to the internet all the time. I cant just leave the robot on the charger and log on a week later and see how things are getting on at home, as i get an unavailable robot message.

Re: Is spykee pointless, or am i missing somthing?
I've tried this a few different ways, none of them where I leave my PC connected to the robot. I've got 2 different wireless networks at home on two different ISPs, so I've logged the robot into one of them and the PC into the other to simulate a real remote connection like I'd have if I was physically somewhere else. I've left the robot on its base for several hours before connecting to it and it connects OK. The only other thing I can think of that might cause you a connection failure is if you have a firewall somewhere between your laptop and the robot.
Cheers, Peter.
