spykee on a mac - howto

Hi, I'm new to this forum but wanted to write about spykee on a mac with OSX 10.5 because I've had small worries setting things up at first.

This thread can be usefull to help people who usually connect to the internet with a DSL modem/router through an ethernet lan, router's wifi being on for some other devices (here for wii, itunes airport express to hi-fi).

In fact the first 3 steps are important - the manual's chapter 6 and 7 didnt work otherwise.

1. make sure you create a new network configuration wifi-only. I tried to have DSL/ethernet + spykee/wifi but this does not work even though I had 2 IP adresses, one given by my router and the other one by spykee.

2. open the firewall to spykee's console (security system prefs panel).

3. make sure your wifi WAP password does not contain any space nor punctuation symbols (I had, but now I use letters only - spykee is not good for your wifi security level ;-))

4. now you can do as the manual says (chapter 6, then 7 to link comp to spykee, change prefs so that spykee can connect to your wifi router).

5. switch off spykee

6. go back to your usual DSL/Ethernet config, you dont need wifi anymore on your mac.

7. switch on spykee - you should hear 3 beeps - 2 means it did not succeed in connecting to your wifi router. If you get 2 beeps, maybe everything's ok ut needs a restart : so restart router and mac, then later spykee.

8. you should now be able to play with spykee through your router, your mac's wifi being off.

Hope this will help.
