Got my Spykee!

I've been waiting for this for a year...

First experiences - he's fab. Great fun. It's almost surreal to be 'exploring' downstairs from the computer upstairs. Didn't take long to get the nack of navigating the little chap around. Listening in and saying things back is really cool.

He sometimes gets confused when trying to find his base station to charge up though. Perhaps he needs to learn where it is better? Give him time! Also, the 'fibre optic' lights are a bit of a poor show, but his head light does make a difference when nagivating him into a dark corner for a good nosey!

Had him watching over my bag of crisps this afternoon, and he took a photo of one being nicked perfectly and the offender has been shown the evidence. Good guard robot!!!

Last but not least, I thought his speaker for playing MP3's was surprisingly good quality. I was expecting something quiet and tinny, but it actually sounds half decent.

However, I've just read on here that they've sold out already - with no more stock coming! Will Spykee be the "must have" present for Christmas 2008?

This is just what I wanted:  I saw it in the News of the World on sunday the 21st Sep08, ordered it on monday from firebox and it arrived tuesday. Its great for chacing the dogs around the house whilst I'm at work. I don,t buy things immediately I usually wait a few weeks to decide whether I really need it, but with Spykee there was no waiting.

The advanced control over the internet worked OK first time, have now had friends in the USA driving spykee around the house in the UK.

I agree the coloured side lights are crap, a waste of time. Perhaps I can adapt the lights to trigger something else. Its a pity you can't remotely pitch the head/camera up and down. I might buy another for christmas so we can
