It appears that Spykee only supports SMTP in unauthorized mode (no user login and password)

Unfortunately not everyone has access to this type of server.  Google has SMTP, but must be SSL and authenticated (requires a google [gmail] account)

I installed the free hMailServer, and with very little tweaking got it working OK with gmail.  Since it is running on my local server, nothing had to be configured on my router.  Just set domain to localhost, added SMTP server as smtp.gmail.com on port 465, used my gmail account to authenticate, and checked SSL box.  I entered "localhost" in Spykee's "outgoing SMTP server" field on the setup screen.  As I recall, that is all I needed to do.
