remote

Seeing as this site died a few months ago, let me try to get things rolling.

Problem is an old one:

Got the toy, got ad hoc working, got intermediat thingy working, but nothing on remote controle.

I opened firewalls all over, port farwarding and the lot, but on local I can't get to check the name/pw for remote.

Has Meccano screwed us by now? Do they think we can get by without their own input?

Are we having to rely on outside input because they gave the world their coding?

All I wanted was a toy I could use when not home, I'm a simple user but somehow I find myself looking at trying to outwit my router and my modem and their website, in order to just to activate my toy.

I'm sorry but is this 'toy'' worth the efford to be able to use it on anything other then simply 'local mode'?

Even more, is it worth all the money to be promised to use it from a remote connection that doesn't want to work?

I read every post on this site, but somehow I missed the one that lests me activate my 'toy' over the net. And I can only use it in my own secure network. This is not why I got the 'toy'. It was advertised to be able to run from anywhere in the world.

Yes, I opened all ports related to it.

Yes, I made my router and modem a whore to all incoming atacks, just to be able to control it from afar.

No, it won't let me use my name/pw I used to register on their website in order to use it as told.

I feel cheated and abused. Thinking about getting money back and seuing.

With kind regards, Satuc.

Re: remote

Hi, do not give up , it is in fact pretty easy, you just need to bypass their server. To do this, setup your Spykee to connect to your wifi and note which local IP adress it has under the "my spykee" tab(something like 192.168.x.x). If you know how to do it, it is best to assign that adress to your Spykee in your router, so everytime Spykee connects it wil have the same internal IP on your network.

then:

1) In the remote connection filed check "remote connection allowed" , do not check the "port forwarding" option, get out of the setup

2) On your router, go to your port forwarding page and add a service, name it what you want e.g. Spykee, and forward TCP to the local IP adress you've noted down earlier, in the port fields enter 9001 in both

3) you're done. Start your Spykee console, enter the external IP adress of your router (if you use it often, it is best to get a fixed IP from your provider) and Spykee runs happily at your command

Cheers

Re: remote

Hey Pierre,

Thanks for responding.

Looks like I made a slight boo-boo.

Didn't use port forwarding correctly. I had it set to 9000-9001. Not double 9001.

Looks like to be working now, Thanks so much!!
