Spykee Battery Life

 Hi there,

I received my Skypee yesterday and set it all up before putting it on charge. After the first charge I got roughly 5 minutes of play before the robot went flat. I put it back on charge over night and gave it another go. Again, it barely lasted 5 minutes before it went flat again. Do you think I have an issue with my battery?

Re: Spykee Battery Life

I had the same issue when I got my unit back in Dec. 2009. Supposedly, there was an issue with the charger overcharging the batteries so they sent me a replacement (by request) with a revised design that doesn't overcharge (I hope). [You can tell if yours came with the redesigned charger by seeing if there is a small round clear object (looks like it has some kind of transistor in it) that is just below the 2 infrared (dark) plastic windows and just above the 2 metal charging contacts.] However, by the time I got the new charger the batteries were already toast. Spykee sat in my closet for about a year till I came across a guy that sells replacement battery packs online. I believe it's www.spykeebattery.com. The site also explains how to get to the battery in Spykee, remove it and replace it. However, I felt his prices were a little steep so I found a national franchise (USA) called Batteries Plus in my area (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) and they were able to build me a new battery pack for $17.99 (US$). I have since then revived my Spykee and have had it working now for for just a few days. The new charger seems to charging the new battery pack just fine. I'm getting at least 30 mins of run time and if you let Spykee rest from time to time I believe the battery will last even longer. I'll be performing some tests to see how long I can keep him alive before needing a recharge. The biggest problem right now is that www.spykeeworld.com website seems to be having virus issues and I can't get on to download anything. I hope this helps you!
