1. (Software) - The first thing, how about having the ability to toggle between Hi and Lo resolution via the console button (menu) instead of the robot button (menu). This will allow the user to toggle between Hi and Lo remotely.
For example, in lieu of a slow connection for an upcoming trip, I switched Spykee to lo resolution. However, when I got to my hotel room, I found that I had a really good fast connection via cable. Now I wish I had hi resolution set.
2. (Software) - The second thing, how about a "step" mode in moving around. For example, I'd like to be able to have a rotation of the wheels based on the following
"1" - quarter turn of the wheels
"2" - half turn of the wheels
"3" - 3/4 turn of the wheels
"4" - full turn of the wheels
You would have check boxes that will allow you to choose the step size above, and a toggle button to turn step mode off and on.
So by pressing an arrow button with the "step" mode on, Spykee rotates his wheels by the chosen step size. ALso, I would have to let go of the button and press it again for him to take another step.
The reason I wish it had this feature is based on better control in tight spaces. In addition, with a slow connection, sometimes a "blip" of the arrow keys translates into a long move, and if Spykee where in front of stairs it would be disasterous.
3. (Hardware) - The next version should have ports that allows you to plug in accessories that can be controled over the internet...such as OFF/ON NIGHT VISION Leds, additional lighting, Tilt and Rotate mechanism for his head, a Claw that can pick up empty beer cans, IR Rifle for a robotic game of capture the flag - wouldn't this be neat with other players in your office cubicles!
4. (Hardware) - a base with better ground clearance; MY spykee got stuck on a crayon he ran over!
That's it for now!
A few more things....
1. Self resetting feature - if the robot loses connection or the internal software freezes...a timer should kick in and automatically/remotely reset Spikee every 10 minutes until the connection is reestablished.
2. There should be a reset button should be located at the top of Spikee's hull, in a spot that another robot can push on. That way, if I did have another robot on hand, it I can steer it in reseting the robot that is down.
