I think the carpet shampoo leaves a residue on the carpet which builds up on Spykee so I keep having to clean the contacts on the charger and Spykee.  I'd like to do away with the contacts altogether and replace them with an induction charging mat.  That way no contacts to deal with and Spykee could dock in any direction.
